Top Fundraising Tips

  • SET YOUR GOAL: In order to participate in the Point to Point, powered by VSECU, you must raise $150, but you don't have to stop there. You can (and we hope you will) raise much more than that in support of the Vermont Foodbank, because every dollar counts when it comes to ending hunger in Vermont.
  • CUSTOMIZE: As a participant in the Point to Point, you get your very own fundraising page with an individual link. Customize your page with photos of your training or workouts, or tell your story of why you participate in this event to benefit the Vermont Foodbank. Sign in here to customize your page
  • SHARE: Spreading the word on social networks is the easiest way to let your friends know about your fundraising goals. Start with a post or two about the Point to Point, powered by VSECU, why you are supporting the Vermont Foodbank, and why others should too! Always include a link back to your stellar fundraising page.
  • EMAIL: Send out emails to friends and family members with a link to your custom fundraising page. Email is a great way to share a longer, more personal message with your network.

  • LEVERAGE: Does your employer offer a matching gift program? Make sure to find out! It is a FREE way to double your donations. For a list of companies that offer a matching gift program, click here

  • REACH OUT: Ask organizations in your community, such as churches and rotary clubs, to support you.
  • GIVE THANKS: Take the time to write a personal note of thanks to each supporter. This will be particularly helpful when you ask for their support next year!
  • DON’T BE SHY: When you ask someone to donate to charity, you are giving them an opportunity to do something good for others. It feels good to give back and they will be happy you gave them a chance to do it.

Good luck and have fun raising money for a great cause! Together we can help end hunger in Vermont.

[Dear/Hi Name,]

This year, I’m fundraising for the Point to Point, a cycling and running event to benefit the Vermont Foodbank and help fight hunger in Vermont.

This cause is important to me because [provide your personal reason for participating in the Point to Point]. Would you be willing to contribute and help me reach my fundraising goal of [$150]?

Any amount you can give would mean a lot to me and make a difference—just $5 provides eight meals to Vermonters in need.

To donate, simply click here to visit my fundraising page: [insert link to fundraising page].

Due to COVID-19, the need is greater than ever, and the need is now. All donations are going immediately to the Vermont Foodbank to meet this urgent need.

I’d love to share more about this important cause, so please don’t hesitate to reach out. Feel free to share my fundraiser by forwarding this email or sharing it on social media! Together, we can make a difference.

[Thank you/Sincerely],
