25-Mile Road Ride Description

  • Winding through one of the prettiest parts of Central Vermont, this route starts by going up Montpelier’s narrow valley and past the Vermont College of Fine Arts (mile 2.5).
  • Rolling through the hilly farmlands of East Montpelier and Calais, you’ll catch glimpses of ponds, sugaring shacks, and the tall Granite Hills to the east.
  • Hanging a left at Maple Corner (mile 11.9), you’ll begin the brief dirt road leg of your ride. You’ll pass Curtis Pond (mile 12.0) and climb over the northern end of Robinson Hill (mile 13.0) before descending back to paved roads for the homeward leg of your journey.
  • As you pedal along the base of the Worcester Range, you’ll weave through fields and farmlands before arriving in Worcester Village (mile 16.0).
  • When you reach the Wrightsville Reservoir (mile 20.0), you’re on the homestretch! You’ll follow the north branch of the Winooski River downstream for a few more miles to reach Montpelier and cross the finish line on the State House Lawn.
